4 Horsemen - FAMINE

Hello folks, I'm trying to redesign the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse as a personal project.
I have worked on it in school, put it aside for a while and now I think it's time to go back to the drawing board and finish the story.

Sketching from life

This one took me about 15 minutes. It was done with graphite pencil and white prismacolor pencil on toned sketchbook paper.
It's ok, there's some areas I could've worked more but it's still worth posting (I guess).

A trip to the Museum

Hello folks!
Yesterday I took my son to the Museum, it was the first time he was surrounded by art.
While my in-laws, my wife and my son were appreciating the works of art I was sketching.
Museums are a great place to sit back, chill out and sketch.
We went to a great museum here in Sao Paulo, called 'Pinacoteca do Estado'. It was built in the turn of the 19th to the 20th Century and it officially opened its doors to public in 1911. If you guys have the chance to go, don't miss it. It's worth the visit.
This sketch was done in graphite pencil.

Drawing from Life

Hello, folks!
Besides Illustration, I am also teaching a few classes. This drawing is from one of them.
I did this one as a demo for the students (kind of, actually, I just wanted to draw), they were complaining they didn't have enough time to draw, that the poses were very short, etc.
It's a 10 min. drawing done from a great model, called Cris. She is a very talented model, she has strong features and very expressive gestures. I wanted to show them that they could do plenty in a short time, they just had to stop talking and start drawing!!! Well, I hope they got the message.

Successful Nerds

Hello folks, a magazine asked me to do a series of small illustrations about successful... well, nerds (in the lack of a better term). I suppose I could have used geeks... well, nevermind.
Anyways, all 8 illustrations were done following the same style. The chosen eight were Jobs, Gates, Fanning, Orkut, Torvalds, Berners-Lee, Brin and Page.
I chose to post this one because I like Steve Jobs. Actually, I like Apple.

Wonders of the Ancient World...

I did a series of illustrations for a magazine about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
It's a theme that's been worked to exhaustion by magazines so I decided to put a little spin on it.
I like to make people laugh every now and then, you know? It's healthy.
I decided to show here my top 3: The Colossus of Rhodes, the Pyramids of Egypt, and the Statue of Zeus at Olympia.

Hey fellas, how are you doing?
I've been pretty busy with the new baby but I was able to find some time to update the blog.
This is a small illustration about ghosts that I did for a magazine.
They asked me to replace the guy lying down for a girl. Heck, they paid for it.
As long as the money keeps rolling in I'll do as much changes as they see fit.
But I still like this version better.

Hello folks, how are you doing?
Last wednesday, March 21st, my son Kevin was born weighing 7 pounds and measuring 19.7 inches.
My wife and I have been very busy since then. Life couldn't be any better, I'm having trouble to wipe that silly 'new dad' smile off my face.

Hi folks, today's post is another Ilustration I developed for a magazine. It's supposed to illustrate their 'Curiosities' Section.
It's a full page spread. I saved some space on top for the title. I also left the background of the original file transparent because they wanted to place it over their own gradient background with the logo and everything. All Photoshop on this one.

An Update!!!!!!

Hello folks, I know I haven't posted anything in a while but it's just been soooo busy...
But there you go, an update! I used charcoal on this one, it's supposed to be a sketch, not the finished thing.
I'll be doing a demo tonight in class so I pulled this one out this afternoon. I'll be finishing it up with Photoshop.
