Colored Pencil on Black Paper

Howdy! This is a quick sketch done this afternoon.
Sketched from a photograph by Steven Meisel.
I can easily spot the mistakes, but I thought it would be worth posting it anyway.
It's not 100% but as we all know "Practice makes perfect".
Thanks for stopping by.

Homage to Bouguereau

Hello everyone.
I had some time to spare between classes this evening, and decided to try some colored pencils I got as a gift (one of those 12 pencil kits).
Trying to copy the mastery of Adolphe-William Bouguereau is a hard enough challenge by itself, let alone with a limited palette.
About seven colored pencils were used in this sketch.

Still Busy

Howdy!
I sketched this one this afternoon, at work.
I know I need to sketch more from life but I need to get all the rust out of my system first.

Just 4 Fun

Back home

Hello folks! It's been a while.
I decided to take a vacation for a couple of weeks, I really needed the break.
Anyway, I'm back home and I felt the need to update something.
It's not much, but it's the funniest one among my vacation sketches.
Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, please. Not Another Step-by-step!!!

Howdy partners!
Things are pretty busy around here, it's really hard to find some time to update the blog. I'd like to take this time to thank you for your patience.
Going back to the basics. It's a digital painting from a photograph (a printed photograph, not a digital file, which made it a bit harder to paint).
Started with the big shapes, trying to capture the colors.
Then on to the drawing.
Then fixing the painting according to the drawing.
And finally, introducing some texture, adjusting the colors and making the background a bit more interesting.
90% done with Painter, 10% Photoshop.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sketching from Life - again

Hello folks!
I tried to capture the personality of the model on this one.
I had fun using dyes, it was a short pose so I tried to capture her likeness fast using big strokes.
Thanks for stopping by.

Pink!

Hello folks, today's update is an illustration I developed for a friend of mine.
She liked it a lot but personally I think it's a little over-saturated and I should tone it down a little.
Well, hope you enjoy it as much as she did.
I sure had fun doing it.
Thanks for stopping by.

Lunch Break

It was early, I was bored, and I was waiting for my class to start.
There was a magazine lying on the table right next to me, my sketchbook was opened and I thought: "Why not?"
There are some artists who question the value of a drawing or sketch from a magazine photograph.
I say "it's better to draw from a photograph than not to draw at all."
Colored pencil on sketchbook. Sketches from photographs.
